Mr. Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central on Tuesday said the COVID-19 has not only afflicted the human body but also crippled humanity and restricted their freedom.

He said, "COVID-19 has disrupted everything including businesses, educational, religious and political endeavours so we must do everything humanly possible to curtail its spread."

Mr. Kpodo said this in an address at the 10th Ho-East Presbytery Synod in Ho.

The Synod, which was on the theme: "Improving upon our gains through selflessness, integrity and effective stewardship" was attended by delegates from all the districts, church groups, and schools in the Presbytery.

The Synod, which was to take place in May, this year was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Kpodo said it was not only coronavirus, which had become a social canker but also humanity was faced with violence, evil, intimidation, hunger, and threat of war among others.

He said it was the duty of the Church to give hope and proclaim God’s unflinching love to humanity adding, "we must see opportunities in every challenge."

The MP reminded those in leadership positions that it was a privilege but not a right, therefore, they should serve in humility.

Mr. Prosper Pi Bansah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive praised the Church for being "a great partner to the government over the years in matters of development in the country."

He urged the Church to improve upon its gains in the areas of education, health, and agriculture among others.

Rev. Mrs Vivian Balasu-Addo, Ho East Presbytery Moderator said the Church would continue to harness the talent and power of members to understand their abilities and capabilities to improve on their social and economic development.

Mr. Kpodo donated GH¢2,000.00 while Mr. Pi Bansah also pledged 50 bags of cement for the completion of a fence wall around the residence of the Presbytery Moderator.
