An Accra High Court has dismissed a suit by lawyer Maxwel Opoku Adusei asking the court to restrain his fellow lawyer Thaddeus Sory and his law firm, Sory@Law from representing the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlote Osei.
Kasapa FM’s Court Correspondent, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman reported that the court presided over by Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo,held that there was no conflict of interest on the part of Mr Sory as a counsel for the EC and also for Mrs Osei as was alleged by the applicant.
It was the case of Lawyer Opoku-Adusei, who has been sued by the EC boss for defamation that, Mr Sory and his law firm Sory@law would be in a conflict of interest if allowed to represent the EC boss.
However, the court in almost one hour ruling said, if anything at all, it was the commission that could make an allegation of conflict of interest and not the applicant.
