A court has ordered Marwako Fast Food in Accra to pay over one million Ghana cedis in damages to three plaintiffs affected by the 2022 food poisoning incident.
Each plaintiff, Winifred Tse, Rodger Bismark Tse, and Walter Tse, was awarded GH₵345,000 in general damages.
Additionally, they will jointly receive GH₵25,215.48 in special damages and GH₵10,000 for legal fees and litigation costs. The plaintiffs experienced abdominal pains and diarrhea after consuming food from Marwako.
The FDA had earlier fined Marwako ¢750,000 and closed its East Legon branch for poor sanitary practices that led to widespread food contamination.
