Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the NDC MP for North Tongu, has accused the government of inflating costs for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) by over $102 million (GH₵1.6 billion).
He revealed that taxpayers will shoulder a $178.7 million bill instead of the actual $76.6 million.
The equipment, primarily from Chinese manufacturers, was reportedly purchased at prices inflated by up to 217%.
Ablakwa criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for previously denouncing overpriced single-sourcing contracts, calling the DRIP deal a contradiction of those promises.
The NDC plans a full investigation and seeks accountability for the inflated costs.
