The National Communication Authority (NCA) has announced plans to lower data prices by year's end to address high costs and poor service.
This follows criticism of the NCA board and concerns over MTN's Significant Market Power (SMP) status, which some blame for data issues.
The NCA clarified that SMP aims to ensure fair competition.
Director General Dr. Joe Anokye revealed that the new NGIC wholesale network, launching by the year's last quarter, will allow operators like AT, Telecel, and MTN to buy bulk data efficiently, reducing costs and improving service without needing infrastructure upgrades.
