The Power Distribution Services (PDS) has taken over the operations of the Electricity Company of Ghana again in an agreement reached by the two companies.
This comes days after the government suspended its concession agreement with the PDS.
The government explained that the decision to suspend its agreement with PDS followed the “detection of fundamental and material breaches of PDS’ obligation in the provision of Payment Securities (Demand Guarantees) for the transaction which has been discovered upon further due diligence.”
ECG took over the operations of PDS while the government probed PDS.
But in a joint statement dated Thursday, 8 August 2019, ECG has agreed to hand over almost all of its operations back to PDS.
“This is to ensure that there is no disruption of power supply and service delivery to our cherished customers,” the statement said.
