Executive Director of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Nii Amarh Ritchester, has slammed the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) over their invitation; describing it as an institution satisfying its paymasters.
He said it is clear that there is some political influence driving the organization’s action, however, the PPP is ever ready since they are the only party to have followed electoral laws in 2012 and this year.
The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has given the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC), up to Wednesday, October 26, to explain how they funded aspects of their political campaigns.
According to the Daily Graphic, EOCO in its letter to Hassan Ayariga said it is interested in how he claimed to have expended over $6 million dollars to procure vehicles, among others.
Interestingly, Dr. Nduom on the other hand is also expected to explain how he was able to raise the GHC 1.7 million to pay for his parliamentary candidates.
Speaking in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Monday, Executive Director of PPP, Nii Armah Ritchester, mentioned that if indeed (EOCO) wants to check any foul play, it should invite all parties.
Thus, their probe should not be selective as they are clearly doing. Therefore, EOCO is just satisfying whims and caprices of their paymasters being the government.
He mentioned that it is extremely shocking the manner in which the police and EOCO are acting and subsequently portraying Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom as criminal.
