Eco-Conscious Citizens have condemned the arrest of four farmers in Atronsu on Farmers' Day for allegedly burning an excavator used by illegal miners.
The farmers, who have long protested mining pollution in the Atronsu Stream—the community’s main water source—were detained while the miners continue operations despite contaminating the water.
Eco-Conscious Citizens have called on the Inspector General of Police to ensure fair treatment, criticizing what they view as "selective justice" in favor of the miners.
They urged authorities to prioritize community health and safety over protecting illegal mining activities.
