Dzodze (V/R), Aug 18, -- An educationist has declared that the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service alone cannot provide the educational needs of the country. "Genuine private efforts on real quality education based on true moral principles and pragmatism for our children must be encouraged to supplement government's efforts." Mr G.K. Bonuedi, Ketu District Director of Education in the Volta region said this when speaking at a ceremony to mark the seventh anniversary of Afanawo International School, a private school, at Dzodze at the weekend. The director commended the proprietor, Mr Emmanuel Kwadzo Tordzro for establishing the school and encouraging parents to invest in the education of their wards. Mr Bonuedi appealed to all communities to identify themselves with their schools and help solve such problems as their rehabilitation, provision of furniture and land for expansion. He urged parents to be interested in the regular school attendance by their wards and teachers to ensure effective teaching and learning. Mr Prince Ahiadzro, an Accra-based business executive who was the guest of honour, reiterated the government's policy for every Ghanaian child to have access to basic education and urged parents to send their children to school to give them the opportunity to develop their talents. Mr Ahiadzro, also Volta Regional executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said the government attaches great importance to education.
