The National Peace Council has acknowledged that the deaths of eight people during Ghana's 2020 elections damaged the country's reputation, despite the elections being largely viewed as peaceful.
The Council is actively working with stakeholders to ensure future elections do not result in loss of life.
This comes as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) sets conditions for signing a Peace Pact for the upcoming 2024 elections, including the prosecution of those responsible for previous election-related violence and addressing concerns about the Electoral Commission's integrity.
