Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, Chairperson of the National Media Commission (NMC), has advised the media to avoid prematurely declaring presidential election results, a responsibility reserved solely for the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson.
He reminded journalists to wait for official announcements and avoid stirring tension by reporting unverified outcomes.
Speaking at an Election 2024 Media Forum in Kumasi, Ayeboafo emphasized the media’s role in reducing political tension and promoting responsible reporting. He also urged journalists to focus on combating misinformation and hate speech as the December elections approach.
