Dr. Emmanuel O. Akwetey, Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), has raised concerns about Ghana’s preparedness for the December elections.
Speaking at the IDEG Ghana Speaks High-Level Forum, he noted that efforts to deter violence and build public confidence have been insufficient. He criticized the appointment process of Electoral Commission (EC) officials, which he said undermines trust and fuels tension during elections.
Dr. Akwetey called for greater transparency and reforms to ensure a peaceful and credible election, crucial for maintaining national unity and cohesion.
