Concerned Cocoa Farmers in the Ellembelle District protested on June 1 against the destruction of their farms and water bodies by illegal miners at Sendu.
Led by Benjamin Azachie, they presented a petition to the local MP, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, seeking help to stop the "galamseyers" who are ruining their investments and environment.
Residents Grace and Ama Amihere expressed frustrations over polluted water and damaged farms, urging President Akufo-Addo to intervene. Assemblyman Nicholas Kofi Mawuli highlighted the involvement of Chinese nationals in these illegal activities.
Buah assured the farmers he would bring their concerns to Parliament and urged continued advocacy against "galamsey."
