A former Director-General of the Police CID COP Bright Oduro Rtd want the murder case of JB Danquah Adu handed over to new investigators following allegations of sexual harassment on the wife of the mate MP by some unnamed members of the investigating team.
On the occasion of the third anniversary of the murder of the MP for Abuakwa North, the wife, Ivy Heward-Mills took to Facebook Saturday to reveal how some persons within the Police CID handling the case are trying to take advantage of her vulnerability.
Bemoaning the apparent delay in bringing the perpetrators to book, she recounted how the investigating team have been making sexual advances at her to the extent of asking her “so madam do you wear waist beads? in a meeting room populated by a men only CID team.
She continued: “And if you think that’s inappropriate, try that Sunday morning when one of those men; a man at the helm of investigating my husband’s murder, thought it sensible to muster the sheer unadorned temerity, call me and tell me how beautiful / sexy he thinks I am and give me reasons why I must marry him; an already married man… and this was the head of a certain significant unit at the CID”
This conduct of the investigating team as alleged by the late MP’s wife, COP Oduro held was unethical, because an investigator has no right to make sexual advances whatsoever at anyone during investigations.
Commenting on the issue on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa Monday, the retired senior police officer said “The woman has delayed too much. It should have come early. It is not late so the police administration can still take it and look at it”.
He stated that “it is so unfortunate. It is not ethically right so the case can be taken away from the one handling it”.
COP Oduro Rtd noted that he would have invited the woman to narrate what transpired if he were still the CID Boss.
“I would have called the woman to narrate what transpired and question the officer and if there is the need for action to be taken against the officer, I would have done that,” he explained.
He said “the officers in charge must be up and doing to uplift the image of the CID and the police Service.
