Ex-NDC MP calls for calm heads over confession by JB Danquah ‘killer’

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency Kojo Adu Asare says despite the mention of NPP in a confession by the prime suspect in the case of the murder of JB Danquah Adu, heads must remain calm.

He says though the confession implicates his party’s arch-rivals, it will be too quick to jump out in jubilation.

“It is a bit farfetched for me,” he stated on 3FM’s morning show, Sunrise, on Thursday.

He says the prosecution must rather consider the confession as a very invaluable piece of evidence in the trial.

At an Accra District Court on Wednesday, Daniel Asiedu, the prime suspect standing trial for the February 9, 2016 heinous crime, confessed that some elements within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) contracted him to commit the crime.

Asiedu, nicknamed Sexy Dondon, said his “contractors” promised him whatever he wanted and charged him to point at the NDC if found out.

But Mr Adu Asare notes that to mention the NPP as a party is too broad as “NPP is not an individual”.

“It is a group of people. Each one has a name.”

Having said that, the former MP suggested: “It is not out of place also that some individuals who are associated with the party could be involved because the person has just made that confession before the court.”

The suspect, who was arrested just two days after the crime, had told the court he will mention the names of his “contractors” if asked since he is now a changed person.

The former NDC MP, however, said the prosecution must probe further.

He laughed off assertions by some NPP members that Daniel Asiedu may be making the confessions due to a mental disorder.

He said the NDC expected such assertions by their opponents.
