The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confirmed that 22,000 bags of Moshosho Rice imported from India are safe for consumption.
After rigorous testing by the FDA, the Centre for Scientific Research (CSIR), and a laboratory in India, the rice was found to meet quality standards, leading the FDA to extend its best-before date to April 2024.
This followed MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa's allegations that the rice, which he claimed was expired and repackaged, had been distributed to Senior High Schools.
The FDA assured that health and safety were not compromised, emphasizing its commitment to protecting public health.
Lamens Investments was fined GH¢100,000 for regulatory violations related to the rice repackaging process.
