Franklin Cudjoe, founder of IMANI Africa, has criticized President Akufo-Addo's decision to extend the contract of Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who was due for statutory retirement on August 1, 2024.
Cudjoe questioned the necessity of the extension, asking if Asiedu is the only person capable of handling audit issues.
While acknowledging Asiedu's competence, Cudjoe believes it's time for new blood and that the extension sets a bad precedent.
He argued that there are equally qualified individuals who can take over and that the extension is a "lame way" to fight corruption.
