Extremists, Jihadists target Dec. 2024 polls?- NCCE picks signals of attempts to recruit youth to mar elections

The Talensi District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Dorcas Atia, has called on youth to reject recruitment attempts by extremist and Jihadist groups as Ghana approaches its 2024 general elections.
Addressing a gathering in Tongo, Upper East Region, Ms. Atia warned of signals suggesting Islamist groups are targeting youth in border communities.
She emphasized the importance of unity, patriotism, and social cohesion to counter violent extremism, urging young people to resist online radicalization and misinformation.
The engagement aligns with the EU-supported Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) initiative.
The Chief of Gaare, Naab Mwarebilsong Naneeteng, and Upper East NCCE Director, James Abdulai Ayaaba, also highlighted the youth’s critical role in maintaining peace during the elections.
