A Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abayifa Karbo says he is overwhelmed by the outcome of the party’s comparative analysis of Ghana’s voters register to that of neighbouring border countries.

He therefore believes that by the time the research team of the elephant family completes its work, the number of foreign nationals from Togo, La Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso that have flooded the country’s voters register will hit over one million.

“Once they are finished with their analysis, there will be a projected number of more than a million from these three countries that have their names and identities in Ghana’s voters register,” he said in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM on Wednesday.

The NPP has for some time been calling for a new Voters Register for the 2016 general elections stating among other things that, the current data lacked credibility because it is fraught with ghost names and foreign nationals, especially from neighbouring Togo, Burkina Faso and La Cote d’Ivoire.

On Tuesday, the party, led by its Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia, buttressed their argument by revealing that the current voters register is flooded with 76,286 Togolese nationals whose identities were found in the Togo Voters Register.

The figure, he noted, forms part of the 10% work done in using facial biometric recognition technology to compare the Voters Register of Ghana to Togo. Work on other neighbouring countries such as La Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina, are also in the pipeline.

Anthony Karbo said when the research team completes its work and unveils their findings; he believes that the other political parties will wholeheartedly support their course.
