An officer of the Electoral Commission cannot facilitate transfer of votes without full knowledge of the Commission, former Administrator at the Electoral Commission, Mr. Kwadwo Damoah Agyemang has stated.
“Per the processes transfer of votes it is done with full knowledge of an applicant and the Commission”, he said.
“To do transfer, the voter has to make an application to that effect and indicate where he or she wants to vote”, the former director explained.
“The application will have to come to the region then to the Commission’s head office computer section for approval “, he explained the processes involved.
The embattled Chairperson of the Commission, Madam Charlotte Osei has accused her deputy in charge of operations of transferring some names on the electoral register without the knowledge of the Commission prior to the 2016 polls.
“Per the processes it is impossible. I do not know how Amadu Sulley alone could transfer votes without knowledge of others”, Mr. Damoah Agyemang wondered.
“It is not the work of the director of operations to effect transfer of votes. They must be applications for that first. …I also do not know those people complaining their names were transferred illegal”, he said.
