Free SHS: Double-track system makes sense in short term - US Ambassador
The outgoing U.S Ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson has added his voice to the ongoing discussion on the double-track system to be introduced to Senior High Schools.

“The minister of Education must look at the option available for the short and long term, but Ghana has much to gain by putting additional people through senior high school” he said.
The diplomat added that, the US government has always been supportive of the Free SHS policy and will continue to support by taking more teachers through training and providing the necessary assistance to the government of Ghana to make the policy succeed.
He added that “we will be offering ideas on how to make both the primary and secondary system as strong as possible and Ghana has already proven its ability to get all children into school”.
Mr. Jackson also said, the ability to get all children into school is a plus for the government but the most important thing now is the quality of education those children are getting and that is why the US government has decided to start with the primary level”.
“You cannot succeed in secondary school if you do not have the foundation and I believe that we are tackling this from both ends and through our professional exchange programs which includes a lot of teachers, we will continue to assist educators in offering the best teaching that they can offer” he said.
