Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has announced the government’s Flood Early Warning System will be operational before the next rainy season.
Speaking at the Nima-Paloma drain reconstruction under the GARID Project, he stated the system will provide advance flood alerts, aiding residents in flood-prone areas.
The system, developed with the Ghana Hydro Authority and other agencies, will help protect lives and property.
The initiative is part of a $150 million World Bank-funded effort to improve solid waste management and flood mitigation in the Odaw River Basin, benefiting around half a million residents.
