The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has called for the immediate removal of the 5% Excise Tax on plastic manufacturing companies, warning of potential business collapses.
GUTA's Secretary General, Alpha Shaban, criticized the government for imposing the tax amidst cedi instability, rising utility costs, and numerous existing taxes.
The Union argues the tax undermines the government's industrialization and import substitution goals, further burdening already struggling businesses.
GUTA urged the government to halt the tax to alleviate economic hardship and prevent additional business costs.
