Galamsey: Organised Labour’s strike to remain indefinite until demands are met – GFL

The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) says the indefinite strike declared by Organised Labour will continue until the government bans illegal mining, known as galamsey.

The strike, set to begin on October 10, was announced after the government failed to meet demands to end illegal mining activities that harm water bodies and forests.

GFL Deputy General Secretary Kenneth Koomson stressed that no response has been received from the government, adding that the unions will not back down until their demands are met.

Organised Labour has called for a state of emergency to tackle the galamsey issue.
