Galamsey: Organised labour declares strike after expiration of gov’t ultimatum

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has announced a nationwide strike set to begin on October 10, 2024, due to the government's failure to halt illegal mining in forest reserves.

This decision follows the expiration of an ultimatum given to the government, during which the TUC demanded the immediate removal of mining equipment from protected areas and the deployment of police and military forces to enforce this.
