Dr. Arthur Kennedy has criticized Ghana’s political parties for failing to tackle illegal mining, or galamsey, due to the involvement of influential politicians who benefit from it.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile, he claimed some Members of Parliament and party elders are connected to the illegal operations, which have led to severe environmental damage.
Dr. Kennedy urged the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to step in and help find a solution.
He called for stronger political will and warned that without targeting those funding galamsey, the problem will continue.
