Ghanaians need to take malaria seriously if the disease is to be wiped out, according to the programmes officer of the National Malaria Control Programme of the Ghana Health Service, James Frimpong.

Mr Frimpong, in an interview with Joy FM, said that combating the spread of malaria is a collective responsibility of all Ghanaians and so hoped the right measures will be put in place to check the disease.

He also said that “it is up to the entire population to also take interventions in place and use. I believe that we have done a lot…In the last three years, for instance, we embarked on nationwide distribution of essential treated bed nets from community to community".

He further stated that his outfit would ensure that every household in the nation benefits from the distribution of treated mosquito bed nets to help combat malaria.
