Justice Dr. Richmond Osei-Hwere of the High Court is calling for expedited handling of election petitions related to parliamentary disputes.
He highlighted that the current lengthy processes deny justice and called for immediate reform.
Speaking at a conference on the judiciary and peaceful elections, he emphasized that “justice delayed is justice denied,” stressing the need for prompt adjudication to maintain the legitimacy of elected officials and public trust in the judiciary.
He noted that delays can lead to speculation of bias and undermine a party's chances of success while an illegitimate legislator remains in office.
Dr. Osei-Hwere advocates for swift resolutions similar to those in presidential election disputes.
