Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia continues to thank God for giving him yet another lease of life when he recently fell ill and had to be taken abroad for treatment and rest.
When news of his ill health was made public by the government, the opposition went to town with all sorts of wild speculations and vile propaganda that suggested the man had either been struck by a severe stroke or was even dead.
But the release of a video footage of him and his wife, Samira, strolling the streets of London in a hearty conversation was potent enough to shoot down the propaganda.
One would have thought that going to the Central Mosque in Accra to thank God for the gift of life after Dr Bawumia had returned from abroad would have been enough sign of appreciation for God’s healing power.
But Dr Bawumia did not stop at that.
Though a Muslim, he joined the pastors and members at the Christ Temple of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra yesterday to thank God.
With him were family members and a high-powered government delegation.
It was in the church that he decided to reveal the favour of God upon his life.
He recalled how at a point one of the doctors, who were treating him jokingly told him, “You said the battle is the Lord’s; but today, the Lord has caught up with you and you’ll have to rest.”
That was when he narrated how his wife, Samira, had to seize his phones, saying, “Even though there were nurses, she was the chief nurse and she seized all my phones and made sure I was resting and not trying to do anything else than rest.”
But Dr Bawumia said, “I know and I believe that the hand of God healed me and so on my return I believe that as God says ‘for all things we have to be thankful,’ and I thought I should come here and pray for my successful healing and also ask you to pray for my boss, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
Thanking all who supported him in prayers in those trying times, the vice president also requested for prayers for government officials, saying, “In all humility, I’m here to say a big thank you to God for bringing me back in good health…I was moved by the prayers across the country for me.”
According to him, “It made me realize that with God all things are possible and I’m so thankful to you for everything you are doing…please continue to pray for us.”
