Member of Parliament [MP] for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has challenged President Akufo-Addo to make known items he received during the campaign period and not only when he has become president if he really wants to show total transparency.
“I am saying this because I know every human being despite his/her position is not 100% upright, therefore I believe it will not be right for members of the ruling party to conclude that President Akufo-Addo is incorruptible for refusing a GH¢500,000 Christmas Hamper offered to him by an unnamed corporate organization,” he said.
He added, “I can’t say the president accepted the gift or not but we [Ghanaians] should stop pretending because nobody, not even the wife of the president can prove with evidence to me that the president when flagbearer or all his life has never received a gift or an item known to be a gift to him personally.”
However, on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political show, the New Patriotic Party [NPP] MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Hon. Frank Annor-Dompreh rubbished his comments indicating that he was not surprised President Akufo-Addo rejected gifts meant for him as Christmas gift because he knows the caliber of person he is.
“ . . But how would a president who before appointing his ministers warned that any minister who has in mind thoughts of amassing wealth in his tenure of office should be ready to face the laws of the land; would he not set good examples for them [minister] to follow?” Hon. Annor-Dompreh asked.
