The IEA says it has since initiated discussions with various political parties

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) plans to host presidential and vice-presidential debates in October 2024.
Despite previous criticism from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about lack of engagement, the IEA is now in discussions with political parties to ensure participation.
The debates aim to help voters better understand candidates' policies.
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has repeatedly challenged NDC’s John Dramani Mahama to a debate on the economy, but the NDC has dismissed these calls.
