Lawyers for IMANI Ghana and security expert Kwasi Aning have filed a new lawsuit challenging the executive's appointment of certain security agency heads, following the withdrawal of an earlier suit at the Supreme Court.
On June 5, 2024, the Supreme Court struck out the old case after the plaintiffs' lawyers filed a notice of discontinuance.
Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo criticised the publicising and subsequent withdrawal of the case as "really unacceptable."
The plaintiffs' counsel, Paa Joe Akuamoah Boateng, explained the withdrawal was to refile the case due to new developments.
