Former President John Mahama has told off his critics in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), who have been wondering why the biggest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), wants him back as a flag bearer.
On Monday, 8 October, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia told a group of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives that: “I hear the incompetent one says he wants to come back. He wants to come and do more damage as if he didn’t do enough damage”.
“Well, we are waiting for him. You have to remember what happened when we came to office. After many years of incompetent economic management, you cannot describe it any other than incompetent economic management”, Dr Bawumia said.
Also, some NDC MPs have openly spoken against Mr Mahama’s comeback, with some of them siding with his contenders.
Reacting to his critics as he rounded up his 3-day tour of the Upper West Region, Mr Mahama said: “I hear our colleagues say that: ‘Don’t you have people in NDC; why are you bringing back the former president?’ The question you should ask them is: ‘Is it your business; is it your matter?’ It’s not your matter, leave us to choose who we want”.
