Prof. Stephen Asare, a D&D Fellow at CDD-Ghana, has argued against fears that dual citizens may be disloyal if allowed to serve in public office.
He pointed out that no evidence supports the notion that dual citizenship leads to betrayal, citing global examples of professionalism in public service.
Asare emphasized that loyalty does not affect job performance, comparing it to sports, where dual citizens can competently compete against their birth countries.
His remarks follow a Supreme Court ruling that deemed parts of Ghana's Citizenship Act unconstitutional, paving the way for potential amendments allowing dual citizens to hold public office.
