Constituents of the late Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North constituency, J. B. Danquah who was murdered gruesomely in his apartment on February 9, 2016 have expressed utter disappointment and displeasure at the turn of events as far as investigations into the murder of the former legislator is concerned.
Speaking on the back of reports indicating the loss of the autopsy reports on the late MP, residents have raised suspicions of foul play on the part of the pathologist who was tasked with producing the reports to confirm the real cause behind the murder.
According to them, the defense of a supposed burglary being provided by the pathologist as reason for the missing reports is conspicuous and unacceptable. They believe he has been among other things, compromised for which reason he has destroyed the documents which he knows will serve as evidence in the legal process.
They called for his arrest till he is able to produce the required documents for the investigations.
“ They should arrest him, why does he have to wait till the evidence is missing before he reports to the police, I think that they have bribed him that’s why he is doing that, one resident said.
“I’m very sad to hear this news and government has to do this because a whole MP of Abuakwa, such a thing has happened and nothing has been done about it, we must find out why the doctor is saying so”, another said.
Another resident who obviously wasn’t enthused about happenings questioned the country’s law enforcement bodies, indicating that they have failed in ensuring justice in the country.
“Are we really fighting for justice in this country” he quizzed. How can such a thing happen that the autopsy report needed to prosecute the offenders cannot be found.
Dr. Lawrence Edusei, the pathologist in charge of conducting the autopsy on the former legislator revealed at the Accra Central District Court Thursday that his house was burgled in September 2017 and the computer which contained the autopsy report and thousands of other autopsy reports were stolen by the thieves.
Dr Edusei was before the court, presided over by Ms Arit Nsemoh, after he had been summoned in November 2017 to explain why he had not furnished the police with the full autopsy report, 21 months after Mr Danquah-Adu was murdered.
The subpoena followed concerns raised by police prosecutors that the pathologist had failed to release the report and all attempts to obtain it had proved futile.
The delay in the release of the report, the police said, had hampered their efforts to build a solid case against Daniel Asiedu, aka Sexy Don Don, and Vincent Bosso, aka Junior Agogo, the two men linked to the murder of the former MP.
