Leonardo Santos Simão, UN Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, has highlighted the Ghanaian judiciary’s pivotal role in upholding democracy, urging it to enhance public communication to prevent misinterpretation.
While commending the judiciary’s professionalism, Simão emphasized that clear, accessible communication is essential, especially during elections.
He noted the judiciary’s recent commitment to publish adjudication models, which he believes will boost transparency.
“Different stakeholders require tailored information,” he explained, suggesting that this approach could increase public trust in the judiciary’s role in ensuring a credible electoral process.
