A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwain Isaac has suggested that health posts should be built in all Senior High Schools throughout the country to avert any disease outbreak in future.
The astute communicator who is aspiring to become Brong Ahafo NPP Youth Organizer in an interview on Classic FM in Techiman said if there are health posts in second cycle schools, first aid and other treatments can be administered to prevent death among students and a repeat of what is happening at Kumasi Academy ( KUMACA).
He is also of the view that this will create employment opportunities for nurses taking into account the disclosure by the Health Ministry it is unable to employ all nurses some of whom are trained in private institutions
“When this is done some private nurses can get employment opportunities and that can lift the burden off government”, he stated.
He has therefore charged all philanthropist to learn from Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyiabour, Banmuhene of Techiman traditional area has established a clinic at Techiman Senior High School yet to be commissioned this month since government alone cannot do everything
One more student of the school died on Tuesday, while two others collapsed, heightening fear and causing panic among the staff, the students and their parents.
The death of the female student brings to 11 the number of students who have died under mysterious circumstances since April this year, while the number on admission has increased to 44.
Already, blood samples of some of the students who died in mysterious circumstances have been sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research to ascertain the cause of death.
Officials from the World Health Organisation (WHO) visited the school to administer Azithromycin, an antibiotic, to contain the situation.
