Madam Afia Serwaa, a bereaved mother who lost her child mysteriously at the Kumasi High School, (KUMACA) has said, she’ll use all means available to her including the courts and traditional means to seek justice over the death of her child.
Recounting how her child died, the bereaved mother said, school authorities didn’t take appropriate measures to prevent the child from dying.
Madam Serwaa said, she doesn’t understand why school authorities delayed in sending the child to hospital, when it was obvious his life was in danger, causing him to die shortly after turning up at the hospital.
She allegedly claimed that, her child was used for rituals purposes, adding that if government does not investigate her son’s untimely death she’ll sue the school and also seek for justice through traditional means.
“Whoever has used my son for money rituals will also die and leave behind his/her family as my son has left me. You can’t use child to get money to look after yours, any person who has done such a thing will pay dearly for it. I til the land before I can look after my son, so I’ll not sit down for anyone to kill my son in order to be rich. That will certainly not happen,” Madam Afia Serwaa fumed.
So far 11 deaths have been recorded at KUMACA this year with the latest being four deaths last week. The deadly illness Influenza N1H1 has been reported to be the cause of the deaths.
The Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency, Rockson Dafeamekpor, a lawyer, believes “Someone has to answer for these deaths because the parents were assured that their wards would be safe in the school but the contrary has happened.”
