The Junior Common Room of the University Hall, popularly known as Katanga, is backing Samuel Sesah, one of the presidential candidates in the 2020 Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Students Representative Council (KNUST-SRC) election for victory.
The hall believes that Samuel Sesah and his running mate, Morris Effah, are a better candidate to lead the students’ front of the University.
In a statement announcing their decision, they described the duo as persons who have had “a feel of the grievances of students of KNUST and known the path we need to thrive to make the SRC more relevant to students”
“In this light, the JCR Executives of the University Hall officially endorses Master Samuel Sesah and Master Morris Effah for SRC President and Vice President respectively. This team is one that we believe would be able to spearhead the affairs of the SRC to make it more relevant to students of KNUST. We rally all our support behind them,” part of their statement reads.
Last year, Samuel Sesah contested in the SRC Presidential election but lost to Adu-Baah Charles.
Whilst the gap in votes between Adu-Baah Charles and Samuel Sesah was over 7,000, he performed better than five other candidates in the election.
Although he comes into this election with some experience, the fourth year Optometry student has three other candidates to beat, with Rexford Joseph Bonney considered to be a headache.
Joseph Bonney has received the endorsement of the JCR of the Unity Hall.
The 2020 KNUST SRC election is scheduled for Thursday, March 26.
