At least two people are feared dead following a tragic road accident near Abinkyi Market in Kumasi on Tuesday, November 19.
The incident occurred when a VIP bus, reportedly suffering brake failure, collided with two taxis around midday.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with one witness, a tricycle rider, recalling the loud bang followed by a scramble to assist the injured.
The witness added that one of the taxis nearly caught fire, requiring quick action to disconnect the battery and prevent an explosion.
The drivers of the taxis were trapped, and rescuers had to cut open the vehicles to free them. While it’s believed that the VIP driver and another person died, authorities have not yet confirmed the fatalities.
The injured survivors were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Investigations are ongoing.
