Kwahu Easter: Business owners cry over ‘dry season’ following coronavirus outbreak

This year’s Easter festivities were cancelled due to the deadly Novel Coronavirus which is currently claiming scores of lives across the globe.

Following this, business owners at Kwahu have decried the adverse effect the Coronavirus outbreak has had on their businesses.

According to them, their restaurants, hotels and recreational centres have been deserted causing them to incur huge losses.

One of the affected business owners told GhanaWeb’s correspondent that: “The Coronavirus outbreak is having a negative impact on my business and it has even taken its toll on some of the existing goods in my shop , I’m running at a huge loss which is so sad”. She noted.

Another added that; “Every Easter our place is always full with all kinds of people, both local and foreigners but this year’s Easter since the lockdown has been dry. Not even a bird has patronised my restaurant and this has really affected me”. She bemoaned.

Meanwhile, authorities are putting stringent measures in place to ensure that safety protocols are observed in the region following a sharp rise in cases within the past week.

So far, the Eastern Region has recorded 32 cases of novel coronavirus after its first case on April, 1.
