President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivers his fourth State of the Nation Address before parliament.
Read full article The event is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which requires the president to brief parliament about the country’s state of affairs.
He is expected to address issues on the economy, coronavirus, sports and fight against galamsey while making a case he deserves another term.
Also expected to feature prominently according to information minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is the "banking sector clean-up and how government is approaching the issue of providing depositors whose money was locked up with some insolvent banks and microfinance institutions access to their funds in part or full".
Earlier, the Majority in parliament cautioned NDC MPs against excessive heckling of president Akufo-Addo.
“There is an acceptable level of heckling in every parliament…it is when we overdo it and excessively it becomes counter-productive and becomes nuisance…placards, for example, is not acceptable in the chamber and we will continue to press on our members not to do it,” deputy majority whip Moses Anim told Starr FM.
The Minority few days ago said it would boycott proceedings following the delay of their share of the Common Fund for the third quarter of 2019.
