A final year student of the University of Ghana, Papa Ayensu Appiah Ofori, has died after being attacked on campus.
While the cause of death is yet to be established by a medical report, multiple sources confirm he passed away due to internal bleeding from an injury he suffered following the attack.
Papa Ayensu Appiah Ofori, was reportedly stabbed in the leg by suspected armed robbers on Friday, November 8, 2019, around Block C of the African Union Hall, popularly known as Pent.
The Political Science student, following the attack, was reportedly rushed to the Legon Hospital where he was placed on admission.
Papa Ayensu Appiah Ofori was later discharged on Sunday, November 10, 2019.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, the student, known among his colleagues as Don Self, passed away. Some friends of the deceased took to social media to mourn his demise.
State of security around African Union Hall
Students of the University who regularly ply the route leading to the African Union Hall continue to lament about the state of insecurity in the area.
With less security visibility and malfunctioning streetlights along the path leading to the hall, students who ply the route become susceptible to robbers.
