Ghana's Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar, has addressed the controversy over SSNIT’s proposed sale of 60% of its stake in four hotels to Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City Hotels Limited.
Abubakar argued that the deal would help restructure and recover SSNIT, emphasizing Acheampong's competence in hotel management and financial capacity.
She urged the public to see Acheampong as a dedicated investor, not just a minister.
This comes amid criticism and concerns about conflict of interest, with MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa filing a petition for an investigation into potential governance issues. Abubakar defended Acheampong's track record in hotel management.
