The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) supports the new U.S. visa restrictions targeting individuals who undermine democracy in Ghana.
MFWA’s Executive Director, Sulemana Braimah, believes this policy will encourage Ghanaian politicians to act responsibly.
Announced by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the policy applies only to specific individuals, not the Ghanaian public or government.
The U.S. says this measure supports Ghana’s pursuit of a peaceful, credible electoral process.
Braimah urged other Western nations to adopt similar policies to promote accountability among Ghanaian leaders.
