Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has said the John Mahama led-NDC government was kicked out of power in the December 7, 2016 election becuase Ghanaians were hungry and also angry with the performance of his administration.
He’s therefore advised President Nana Akufo Addo to ensure that he works hard to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians lest he’s also voted out of power under the same circumstance that confronted his predessesor.
The Overlord of Asanteman was speaking when President Akufo Addo called on him at the Manhyia palace on Saturday as part of his 3-day ‘thank you tour’ of the Ashanti Region which is the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s sronghold, following the huge number of votes he secured during last year’s general election.
“Ghanaians voted during the 2016 election based on how hungry and angry they were with the Mahama-led NDC government, that is why he lost the election. Nana Akufo Addo must be told that if he doesn’t perform to the expectation of Ghanaians he’ll be kicked out of office the same way John Mahama was done. I know Nana Akufo Addo is competent and will eliver. At this period of his life and with the height he’s attained, he’ll not amass wealth while in office. All he needs now is to make his name by leaving a legacy. Nana Akufo Addo must work to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians because the citizenry are looking up to him.”
The Asantehene further advised President Akufo Addo to be careful with persons who have surrounded him lest they undermined his government with their actions and inactions.
