Masquerade Carnival lights up mood on streets of Sekondi-Takoradi
Like every Christmas, the twin city of Sekondi Takoradi came alive on Christmas Day and Boxing Day when masquerades took over the streets as they do every year.
Read full article The competition to be the best out of the many, went up the notch this year as the various masquerade groups in the city outdoored their brightly coloured uniforms on 25th December.
26th December was even more fun as every group brought in their A-game.
Known as Ankos in Takoradi, the masquerade groups which include Tumus, Spain, USA, Ohyewakomem, Supreme, oil city among others proved they did not come to play as the music from their various brass bands could be heard miles away.
Both the young and old make up these groups and displayed various unique dancing steps.
The Masquerade Carnival in the twin city has ended the era where children run from masquerades out of fear as many children, as young as 5years, are part of the groups and were seen giving off their best to help their various groups come up tops.
The carnival is held twice every year, so if you missed the Christmas edition don’t despair because the New Year edition which is billed January 1, 2020 promises to be even better.
