The military has been deployed to Mion and Kulkpeni in Ghana’s Northern Region to manage escalating tensions over a newly established market by the Konkombas.
Following a deadly clash in Zogbei two weeks ago, the Konkombas’ decision to boycott the Mion market and start their own in Kulkpeni has intensified conflicts with locals.
Despite efforts by the Yendi Municipal Security Council to resolve the issue, the situation remains volatile.
The military intervention aims to prevent violence, especially as today is a market day and tensions are high.
