Ministry Working Towards Improved Health System : Brookman-Amissah

Accra, Sept. 4, The Ministry of Health is working towards establishing sustainable and transparent systems to improve the health of the people, Dr. Eunice Brookman-Amissah, Minister of Health, said today. Dr. Brookman-Amissah who was opening a two-day seminar on 'Health Sector Reforms' in Accra today, said this means a number of priority interventions will be pursued in the next five years. The interventions include reproductive health service, particularly obstetric emergency care, expanded programme of immunisation and surveillance of diseases with epidemic potential. Others are the control of endemic diseases particularly malaria, acute respiratory infections, sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS, the management of sickle cell, diabetes, cancers, accidents and emergencies. Topics being discussed include the challenges, constraints, opportunities and risks involved in the interventions identified by the ministry. The participants are expected to reach a consensus on the strategies needed to address the challenges of the ministry of health.
