Nana Akufo-Addo has said publicly that five of his competitors in the just-ended election: Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Mr Ivor Greenstreet, Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah, and Dr Edward Mahama will all be part of his government once the Electoral Commission declares him winner of Wednesday’s presidential poll.
The five have all conceded defeat and congratulated the New Patriotic Party flag bearer for “winning” the polls even though the EC is yet to declare official results.
Speaking to the media at his Nima residence in Accra on Thursday evening, Nana Akufo-Addo said the five would have roles to play in a future Akufo-Addo administration.
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the majority of my competitors who have already expressed warm words of congratulations to me. I appreciate it very much. Words from Mr Ivor Greenstreet, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, our former first lady, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Dr Mahama, and Jacob Osei Yeboah. I thank them for their service to our country and I know that all of them are going to be part of what we’re going to do to bring progress and prosperity to the Ghanaian people,” he said.
